All the talkity-talk-talk shifts away from you and toward their friends, but at least there's a little peace once in a while.

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

That's just wrong (60 char/min). My daughter is the same way.

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

Thanks Lin!

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

I've got lots of guns too. Glad you stopped by here and added your thoughts. Definitely enjoy the time you've got now, while they're young!

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

Thanks for the preview into teenager/parent communication. Its hard to imagine when they're toddlers and never quit talking that they'll turn into minimalists when it comes to talking/texting/IM with their parents.

BTW...I'm kind of glad that we only have a boy (for now). The prospect of having a 13 year old daughter with a boyfriend scares me to death.

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

My oldest daughter can text 60 chars/minute without looking at her phone. It's scary. As for boyfriends, I've told her that they have to fill out "the application" if they want to date her.

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

Jeremy,

I just can't get enough of your comical stories. I love your sense of humor! Although I can relate from the standpoint of being a mom, I sure get a good laugh reading it from a dad's point of view. :)

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

Good stuff Jeremy - My 13 year old daughter can out text me any day of the week, and since I'm not a twittererer I've no good experience. I'm with you on the boyfriend thing - I may be living the cliche "dad in the garage with a shotgun" sooner than I think.

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

As I only have a 3 year old girl, I can't comment with anything similar, but I gotta say I am not looking forward to that phase of her live. I can only hope that it will be easy, like my older brothers and their teenage daughters.

So, naturally, I am relishing all the time I have with her now in this phase of her development.

Which also means that I am neglecting myself and have developed a spare tyre probably to rival yours.... In fact I have some minor racing-bike type spares saddling the major tyre.

And thanks for dropping by and dropping a comment on my blog!

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

Thanks Dette! My wife asks me if I'm going to be different with our son than the girls. I tell her I won't need to because she will be scarier than I ever will be to Ty's girlfriends:)

p.s. You should look at Disqus commenting system - it's got tons of awesome functions and allows for users to subscribe (my old system didn't allow that, which was terrible for keeping conversations going).

Thanks again!

Re: Twittering Dad vs. Texting Daughter: Episode 2

lol - your reaction is the complete opposite of hubby's. When our (then 12 yr old) son had a girl come over, he told me:

"Be nice, Dette. Don't scare her away!"

But then again - it must be waaaaay different when talking about a son or daughter, huh?

P.S. LOVE your comments set up from disqus! But that's too hi-tech for this newbie blogger. See you around!
