I don't remember. Our 9th was in January and we had a 9 month old.

    I really don't remember. Crap.

    I know the feeling man!

On our 10th, my husband (who is NEVER the romantic type, so it was all the more a surprize!) took me to this great Bed&Breakfast. Our anniversary is in the fall, so we took some great wilderness hikes, and had a wonderful dinner together. In the morning, at breakfast, he had arranged for the hosts of the Bed&Breakfast to serve an Anniversary band, matching my wedding ring, on my plate for breakfast. It was great!

That was almost 15 years ago, eeek! Our 25th is coming up this October. Dang, having an 'old' moment here....

Great photos of the two of you thru the years, thanks for sharing them with us! =)

Great story Robyn! Thanks for sharing it with us....something to think about with the getaway.

Our anniversary is in September so I'll comment about last year, it was our 5th anniversary. We spent a long weekend alone up in Mystic, CT. Had a great time. Felt like we were dating again. Didn't have to wake up early with the kids, could relax, got a couples massage and just spent all hours of the day and night together. It was perfect. The year before we tried to travel to the New Hampshire Coast but plans got canceled 2 days before and we lost out on airfare.

The best part of our 5th was just sitting at a table, sipping wine and talking and holding hands! We loved it!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Mystic is awesome Tinch! I lived there for 2 years, and it definitely has a lot for couples to do. Thanks!
  • LoriB · 1 year ago
Oh my gosh honey- what a great surprise to wake up to! I needed tissues and it is only 7 AM!!!I love you more today than I did 9 years ago. Like everyone, we have had our ups and downs (more ups than downs to be sure!) and I look forward to another 40 or 50 more years together. Your my best friend, my lover, my confident, my penguin AND my lobster (lobsters mate for life you know!)... can't wait to see what our life together brings next. Oh, and by the way, notice how our hair has changed (mine less blonde and yours, well, just a little less?) but I still think we are one of the cutest couples out there!
    I love you baby!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks Lobster! I love you more every day (even though you're making me lose my hair)! ;-)

Happy Anniversary!! We just celebrated our 5th........we were supposed to go away, but the kids got really sick. So instead it was a bottle of wine and Chinese food. We are still determined to get away BY OURSELVES this summer though.....better late than never!!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Kids definitely seem to trump anniversary plans...good thing adults understand (and, like you say, there can always be a make-up date scheduled). Thanks!

This past anniversary we stayed in as we were getting ready to move and had just settled on our new house. So while what we did wasn't too exciting, it was perfect for us because we laughed, heckled, and teased each other...playing Wii Bowling. We also picked up some sushi from Whole Foods and toasted the occasion with some good wine.

Thank you for sharing those pictures with all of us. I got chills watching the montage. Your family is beautiful.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks so much Jessica. Wii bowling is AWESOME! If we had a Wii, I might never leave the house either.

My husband and I always go away for our anniversary. We take turns planning the trip and surprise the other one. For 3 anniversaries we either had little babies or I had a really big belly so they turned into semi-local overnights in a hotel with a nice dinner and yummy brunch but this past year, since my kids were a little older (13 months and 2 1/2 years) my husband planned a surprise weekend trip to Miami Beach. It was fantastic to get away but obviously we were happy to get back to the kiddios. I think an anniversary in the hospital is extremely special. What better way to show your love and committment to each other than by addding to your family? This will certainly be an anniversary you never forget! Congratulations!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks Lindsay! I love Miami Beach - we went twice last year and had a blast (once with kids, once without). Today was a special day for us, and I'm sure we will remember it!
  • Tony · 1 year ago
we usually go to some B&B for our anniversary - it's almost become like a fun tradition. for our 5-year though, schedules were crazy so we just went out to eat, and I got her a photo album of our first 5 years. hilarious that this was best gift I ever gave her (even though I got both the photos and the album at Costco)

    Happy Anni!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks Tony! I know what you mean - I think the best gift I ever got Lori was a facial machine from Wal-Mart that she uses all of the time. Good gifts don't always have to be big and fancy - thoughtful is better, right?

Happy Anniversary! We just had our anniversary the 20th. And, as you know, we went to Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica for a week to celebrate. It was kind of a belated honeymoon (as we never took one) and an anniversary trip all in one. That, and for the past 3 years, we hadn't taken a trip just for the fun of it by ourselves. So, it was VERY nice. We ate gourmet meals, did watersports, lounged on the book, danced, and whatever else our hearts desired. The ONLY downside was not being able to take Lorelei, but she was in good hands. We also got to have a candlelit dinner on the beach with butler service, watching the sunset!! My best anniversary EVER. And, for your next anniversary, I'd highly recommend Sandals Montego Bay...not all Sandals are created equal.

I have pics of the trip and a little story of how my husband tried to off me (not SERIOUSLY) if you want to be amused.

    Once again, Happy Anniversary!!

What are you guys planning to do...even though you will be spending it in the hospital?
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Hey Ashley! Yes, a lot has happened this past week while you were gone, but it sounds like you had a blast! We've never been to Sandals, but we'll have to look into it for the future. Good idea! I'll swing by your site to look at the pics. We just went to dinner, then back to the hospital tonight. Caitlin looked so much better today, so we wanted to get back to her.

We just celebrated our 7th anniversary with a weekend get-away in Seattle. The kids went to Grandma's and we stayed downtown, within walking distance to everything. It was a great weekend to reconnect and spend some time together, remembering why we married each other.

    Happy Anniversary!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
I love Seattle! I used to go there several times a year for work, and we stayed in the Westin (awesome!). It's definitely nice to get some time alone every once in a while, as you said, to reconnect. Thanks Kate!

Congrats on your 9th anniversary. Can't believe that my wife and I will be celebrating our own 9th year come October. Where does the time go? That's a pretty cool video you posted.

Not sure what we're doing for the anniversary but if I come up with a good idea, I'll be sure to let you know!

    Best,

Congratulations Dana! Nine years does go by fast man! Also, thanks for the thumbs up on the video - that means a lot coming from a Director! ;-)

Our 9th was the 23rd. We, for the first time since he was born (after a nice breakfast together) dropped Luke off at daycare and went to out to lunch, a movie!, and shopping together. We saw 'Prince Caspian' which was pretty good, since Mrs. LIAYF had read all the books as a child. We then picked up Luke and all had a nice dinner at home together.

Happy 9th! Enjoy, you have the best gift ever.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Good minds think alike (with all of the anniversaries close to the end of May - it wasn't too hot and it was great timing for a honeymoon)! I haven't seen that movie James - we'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Our 19th anniversary is this Monday. We'll spend it in the usual way... Going out to dinner as a family.

I'm saving up for our 20th, when we'll either take a cruise or spend a couple of weeks in Hawaii. Again, as a family. It's just more fun for us to all go together.

We usually get some sort of "couple gift" like a new couch or toaster or something. This year I bought my wife a GPS unit she's been wanting.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Did she secretly want the GPS unit for you? That's what Lori would do to me! A cruise sounds nice, but man would I be in good if I could swing a trip to Hawaii. Thanks Phil!
  • Matt · 1 year ago
Congratulations man! The heavy metal pic rocks, man. Our 10th is coming up in September...gotta do something big, just not sure what yet. Dora marathon? Maybe I'll post about it.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks Matt! Lori and I used to have a lot of fun for Halloween parties with friends, then we all had kids around the same time and, well, things have changed somewhat (i.e. we don't put on caveman outfits and fishnets)! Let me know when you post about it - love to read it!
  • bgabree · 1 year ago
Jeremy - Thanks for the update. Hope you enjoy the anniversary as much as possible. You'll be back hme before you know it and then plan something special to celebrate belatedly. Take care bro!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks man! It will be more than enough just to get the little one home!
  • Busydad · 1 year ago
Happy Anniversary you two! Wow, 9 years. I wish I could provide a vicarious story, but I don't remember what we did!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks Jim! Yeah, we were talking at dinner tonight that it will be nice to plan something special and memorable next year.
  • dadofdivas · 1 year ago
I tell you even the viseo is quite a memorable thing...it makes me want to do something similar. What did you use to build the video?
  • QuirkeeJames · 1 year ago
We got married on New Year's Eve 9 1/2 years ago. This last anniversary we had a little party at our house. For our 10th anniversary I think we are going to try and be somewhere tropical. :)

Happy 9th to both of you!
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Thanks James! I'm sure having 2 reasons to celebrate on the same day will make for a good reason to do something extra special for the 10th!
  • dadofdivas · 1 year ago
That's what we would like as well. My wife would like FIji or somem other tropical location!
  • dadofdivas · 1 year ago
    Jeremy,

Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to you and Lori...and what a great tribute in video! My wife and I will celebrate 10 years this year and I know how important it has been to have her by my side, and I'm sure it has been the same for you and Lori!

Regarding what we will do in a month to celebrate...I don't know...we want to take a trip but with the fact that we have a little one right now...the trip won't happen this year.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Trust me, we know the feeling!
  • dadofdivas · 1 year ago
:-) Though we know it we also know that the wait is worth it!
  • jason · 1 year ago
That's awesome. Congratulations to both of you.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
    Thanks Jason!

Happy anniversary and congratulations on the birth of your baby. Hope she is doing well.
My husband and I celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary in July. (Much longer than either of our first marriages lasted). We are lobsters too! We'll probably have a family weekend away, though I admit, it would be nice to have a naughty weekend without the kids! I don't think that's going to happen though...
  • Stacey Cochran · 1 year ago
    Congratulations, start saving for # 10 :)

My wife and I just celebrated our 5th this past year...and where was I? At a football game. :) OK, before all the women hate me, there is a story behind it. I love college football, it is one of the things my wife has accepted, mostly because she grew up with a father who is a die hard Aggie (Texas A&M) fan, ex Vice Chancellor, etc...so sports was big to him, so she was used to is. Her whole family bleeds maroon and white, and she is from Bryan, Texas, home of Texas A&M. Then she met me, and I, as it turns out, am a HUGE Texas Longhorn fan (their rivals)....call me the burnt orange sheep of the family. As we planned our wedding, we looked at the schedules for both schools, and chose the only Fall weekend they both had off, the weekend before the annual rivalry game, November 23rd. Well, as it so happens, we usually spend Thanksgiving in Bryan, with me and her dad, and uncles and aunts and whole family - they sporting maroon and white and me, well, you guessed it, proudly wearing my Burnt Orange - all go to the football game the years it is in Bryan. As we started to plan our 5th anniversary, 2 things real obvious, real quick. 1) Things were tight with 2 businesses, a 2 year old, and a new house and 2) our anniversary was the day of the big game this year. My wife, having been raised by a die hard football fan, accepted this, and I spent our anniversary, at the game...with HER family. We also took advantage of having Meme around and they kept our son while we did get a chance to enjoy a nice romantic dinner at a nice restaurant afterwards....so I wan't a complete heal.

I also realized we will run into the same issue every 5 years...the big ones. So, I guess we will have to deal with the 10th, 15th, etc...as they come...for now, the football gods have granted me a slight reprieve...the game has been moved back to Thanksgiving day now..so it's off the 23rd....for now.
  • jnbammer · 1 year ago
Awesome story Stacey! It's good to be a diehard fan of a team, and I'm sure if she really wanted to do something different that you would. Thanks for sharing it with us!
